February favourites

February favourites

It's been a while since I've been here, life has gone pretty crazy and every time I've planned a post something has popped up, along with work loads increasing, christmas and New Years, hubby getting qualified in his job and some uncertainty on the horizon with my job, we also have a new temporary house guest and an exciting new prospect for me in the the near future ( which I will of course share when the times right). Life has certainly been a roller coaster and so the blog writing had to take a back seat for a while. But I'm back HORRAY!!

It's a little late but here are February favourites. I'm afraid there's only a few as I was ( note the was ) on a bit of a spending ban. This month however I seem to have made up for it ( oops) and I'm sure there are a few haul posts to follow.

Revlon lip balm in honey
A recommendation from my lovely friend and BFF for life Hannah from justbeinghannah.blogspot.co.uk she insisted that I needed this in my life and she was right. It's a balm based lip colour. The colour isn't too intense which means you can put it on , on the go which for the past month has been a must for me. The balm side is great I can feel it on my lips for a good length of time before I need to renew and my lips do feel softer for it . This has been every where with me. In my desk at work, in my hand bag and coat pocket . I wouldn't be without it .. Thanks Hannah!

Colourstay gel envy in up the ante - essie button told me to buy it, so I did. do I need to elaborate? It's a gorgeous colour and the perfect transition into spring shade ( it's not too soon!)

Loreal perfect match consealor
I always struggle to find a good covering consealor for my dark under eye circles. The Mac Pro long wear does a great job but is a little on the pricey side for me to be using every day and a little thick at times. however l'oreal has come up trumps . the colour ( the lightest shade) is perfect, it blends well and doesn't crease, the coverage is great and can be built up to if you do have a spot come up. An all round win for me .

Bourjois dissolvent nail varnish remover
I hate taking nail varnish off. Pads every where, the gross smell and the length of time just meant I would rather sit and pick at my nails making even more mess. This little pot takes your nail varnish off in a matter of seconds. It's a sponge inside filled with solution  you just pop your finger in, give it a few twists and your nail varnish has disappeared. I was so impressed with it I showed my hubby a few times, he didn't seem as excited as me, but he much prefers the lack of smelly cotton pads left all over the coffee table .

Maybelline 24 hour colour tattoo eye cream/shadow in creamy beige
As the month of feb seemed to be mega busy for me. Long shifts late finishes early starts. Make up in the morning had to be quick and easy. This pot has been amazing a great dab your finger in, swipe over the eye lid and your good to go . It's a great neutral colour so you can't go wrong. It's a lovely I made an effort with out actually making an effort colour . It also is a great base colour to build up eye shadows on top of. ... When you have time .

So those were my favourites of February. What have you been loving this month?

Autumn wardrobe Wishlist

Autumn is drawing in, and whilst I love the sun, I'm secretly (not so secretly) excited that the winter months are coming. This to me means hot chocolate, cosy nights in and of course my birthday !

Now in summer I have a real love/hate situation with my wardrobe, but in winter it's all about big jumpers, fluffy scarfs and cosy coats. I've been so excited about re-vamping my wardrobe ready for this seasons trends. For the first time I really sat and thought about what the key items I would need , instead of my usual ooh that's nice il buy that random purchases that I can never match with anything else in my wardrobe.

Here is what I'm lusting over for this season

It's all about the layers, jumpers over shirts. Winter dresses and black tights layered erg  beautiful checkered shirts and a leather jacket.

And of course this tshirt !

Have you guys planned your winter wardrobe yet? And what's on your wish list?

My little box

After a tough day at work walking through my door and seeing this little delight waiting on my coffee table I was most excited to get into my first ever monthly beauty subscription.

My little box is as far as I'm aware a French beauty based monthly subscription box, but with a twist and now they have come to England (hooray!!) it's £14 ish a month inc p&p and what drew me to it was two things 1. It's not just beauty products, there's fashion and stationary and just general cuteness involved. 2. Every month has a different theme, like love, luck, a weekend away are some of the examples they give.

This first month was obviously a Paris theme! It had to be. And in side this beautifully packaged box was a note book ( with a little introduction to the company) a lap top or tablet neoprene case ... I don't have one but I'm sure il find a loving home for it ( or just have to buy one for myself!) some Paris based stickers and then three beauty pieces
1. Laura Mercier foundation primer a whole 30ml of product which I'm really impressed with and so excited to use as I've wanted to try some of her stuff for ages , so review will soon follow I'm sure

2. Huile Prodigieuse by nuxe, I'm not entirely sure what this is yet, they say it's a must have in Paris to be used on hands hair and anywhere that you want to have a silky feel and that the scent is 'intoxicating' well I can say the scents amazing but il let you know when I find out what it's really for!!

3 complexion brightening pen by my little box- their own brand make up , it couldn't have come at a better time as all my highlighting pens are coming to an end so I'm looking forward to using this one

All in all I'm impressed so far. The packaging is amazing, I love the illustrations and all the little touches like matching ribbons and craft paper touches. The full sized samples are a fab touch and already I can't wait to see next months box!

What do you guys think? Have you ever subscribed to a beauty subscription?

What I have learnt in my first year of marriage

yesterday me and the hubby celebrated our first year of marriage, the last year has flown by. It feels like only yesterday that I was walking down the aisle, and now a year on I cant help but look back and think about what I (we) have learnt.

1. You cant always win.....im a terrible sore loser and I hate to be wrong. even worse than that I hate being corrected or having my mistakes picked up on. so ive had to learn if hubby corrects me, that it isnt that he is trying to embarass me, or make me feel bad,  he is trying to help me better myself or make it easier to co-habitate ... but honestly is there a wrong way to load the dishwasher?

2.Becoming a wife doesnt make you magically change into Martha Stewart over night. I still cant cook, im the messiest person alive and I wont be making centre pieces out of pine combs and empty cereal packets any time soon...

3. its still important to go on dates... with each other . living together doesnt mean that you see eachother that oftten even though you live together and sitting in front of the tv eating dinner and then looking at facebook the rest of the night isnt  time. me and hubby still date. we go out at least once a month for dinner or a nice walk and talk about everthing and nothing . this time brings us back together and reminds us of why we fell in love. i enjoy talking about our first date, or what we will be doing in 1,5 or 10 years time.

4. equally space is good... we dontt live in each others pockets. we have our own hobbies, groups of friends and always make sure that we make time for ourselves. it means that when you are together you value the time better and that you dont feel that your other half is preventing you from living your own life...

5 the topic of children will be mentioned every day. a least once a day im asked now that we are married when are we having childrn. i really dont see the rush or feel the need to be producing mini me's anytime sooon. for now im happy being just the three of us (including forrest) and we have so much else to look foward to before then....why rush?

theres just 5 basic things ive learnt in a year im sure there is plenty more . the wedding was the best day of my life but only so far with my hubby by my side theres so many adventures to come I just cant wait

What's in my travel makeup bag?

About two weeks ago I went for a short trip to Barcelona and the one thing I spend most time worry about was, what make up was I going to take with me. I only took a carry on which meant I was restricted on both weight , size and how much 'liquid' I took ( did you know lipstick counts as a liquid? Neither did I)
Here is my 'restricted' make up collection, I wanted to take as many versatile pieces as possible so that I could change from day to night easily

Top row left to right :
Loreal eau de nude foundation
Maybelline fit me concealer
Rimmel stay matte powder
W7 in the nude eyeshadow palette (a naked dupe!)
Maybelline gel eye liner in black
Benefit their real travel sized mascara
Urban decay glide on eyeliner in roach
Sleek blush by three palette in lace
Benefit hoola bronzer
The balm Mary-Lou-manizer highlighter
Bottom row left to right :
Revlon lipstick in elusive
Mac lipstick in Cremecup
Burt's bees lip balm
Maybelline color sensational lipstick in shocking coral
Revlon liquid lipstick in orchid
Maybelline gloss in breathtaking orchid

The foundation I wanted to be a nice light weight one as I knew it would be hot, I wanted coverage but not to melt during the day.
In the nude palette meant I had a lot of different shades in one compact tin so was very versatile
The blush palette also meant I could have a choice and was more compact than taking three different blush colours
All the lipsticks could be layered and really change a look (plus we all know I love a lipstick!)

So there we have it. What are your makeup must haves for holidays and trips away?

Sephora Haul

I've just got back from an amazing hen weekend in Barcelona with some fab girls, and I'm sure there will be more about coming soon (already cringing at the pictures) .

What I didn't know was that there's a sephora there ....my little heart almost skipped a beat as I love the American ones , can't get over how inexpensive everything is there. The Spanish one still works out slightly cheaper on some products than others and of course I had some euros to 'get rid of' so here is my very first mini haul

Yay!!!

Urban decay lipstick in Rapture

Lovely consistency and fab colour . I will be purchasing many many more of these. I know this colour is very in at the moment and I'm really enjoying wearing it.

Urban decay eyeshadows in Laced and Last call

So creamy and buttery, and I  love them worn together .

Urban decay naked lip gloss

Just look at that colour! What a surprise it's a coral shade!

Too faced bronzer- milk chocolate soleil

I was looking at the darker shade but was adviced to go for the lighter one .... Jury's still out on the shade but we shall see in time. Other than that I love it!

Sorry for the lack of opinions but I've yet to try them enough to get a real feel for them , I'm sure they will pop up on weekly favourites

What's your favourite shop to get cosmetics in? And do you think they should bring sephora back to England?
